Day four of the National Holstein Convention kicked off with the convening of the Annual Meeting, non-delegate tours and Dairy Bowl for the Juniors.

Awards were presented including the 40 year member recognition, Herds of Excellence and Star of the Breed presentations.

After lunch Dr. Chad Dechow, Associate Professor of Dairy Cattle Genetics at Pennsylvania State University presented a “Genetics of Embryo Production” discussion. Regional member caucuses followed.

After an enjoyable buffet of beef and white fish, the Juniors had a fun night poolside and the National Sale kicked off.
One of the top type animals to sell was Craigcrest Rejoices Wind Chime, the 93-point six-year-old with over 34,000M consigned by Stan and Lucas Moser of Dansville, Michigan. The powerful cow, who anchored the end of the animals selling in the tent, is sired by Windbrook and out of a 94-point dam. She sold for $19,500 to NDIRA Inc., % Richard Denier, Colorado.
Lot 1, a March 2018 +2904GTPI heifer that is the #2 GTPI Modesty daughter topped the genomic heifers that sold. She is out of Pine-Tree Majr Delta 465-ET, a +2685 GTPI Delta with embryos already exported to Japan and the Netherlands. Selling in absentia, she was consigned by Ramsier’s Willow Spring Farm of Rittman, Ohio. She sold for $91,000 to Peak Genetics, Wisconsin.
The sale averaged $12,077 on 89 lots and was co-managed by The Cattle Exchange, Dave and Merry Rama and Daniel Brandt Pedigrees & Marketing.
